Count Us Out Of New APC —marwa, Barafawa

Former Lagos State military administrator and chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Major Gen. Buba Marwa Rtd, former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, and ACN governorship candidate in Kwara state in 2011, Dele Belgore, have dismissed reports linking them to the formation of New All Progressives Congress (nAPC).
Marwa in a statement signed by Bello Zubairu said: “I know nothing about it. Nobody has brought such thing to my knowledge.
“I am neither party to nor did I sit with anyone or group to discuss such a move.”
On his part, Bafarawa said in a text message to the Abuja-based Peoples Daily: “I am not aware. I am just coming back from Saudi Arabia.”
Dele Belgore, in his own reaction also told the paper: “I am not a party to any new party or group formation.”
News Expressrecalls that APC factional chairman in Kwara State, Rev. Bunmi Olusona, had in a statement congratulated Marwa, Belgore, Bafarawa, and other leaders across Nigeria for their wisdom in coming up with the idea of launching nAPC.
It said the patriotic action by founding fathers of APC will without doubt salvage the party from imminent implosion. “We hail these leaders who have resolved not to allow the ship of this party to capsize.
“They deserve to be encouraged and appreciated. “We also want to specially congratulate our very own, Mohammed Dele Belgore (SAN), for his resilience and steadfastness on the Kwara rescue project. We are convinced that he still symbolizes the change Kwarans seek.”
APC had yesterday disowned Olusona in a statement by the party’s Interim National Secretary, Tijani Tumsah, which said: “Our attention has been drawn to one Rev. Bunmi Olusona, who is parading himself as the Interim Chairman of the APC in Kwara State.
“We hereby state that our party has not inaugurated the interim executive committee in Kwara State, and that the APC stakeholders in the state are working to find a convenient date for the inauguration.”
Tumsah said that after the inauguration of the interim executive committee in the state, the governor of the state will be saddled with the responsibility of nominating the Interim Chairman.
“Therefore, anyone currently parading himself as the Interim Chairman of the APC in Kwara State is nothing but an impostor who should be ignored by all. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all Security Agencies should please take note,” Tumsah stated.
