Bayern are even better under Guardiola - Robben

Arjen Robben says that Bayern Munich want to continue as the most dominant team in Europe and are eager to prove that with victory over Manchester United.

Robben insisted that any celebrations after retaining their domestic title were muted, with his side focused on securing back-to-back Champions League crowns.
"Guardiola has turned us into the most dominant team in Europe," the 30-year-old told journalists ahead of Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final.
"We have made another giant step as a team this season. We are more dominant than we have been. From the very first minute we put massive pressure on our opponents and are capable of keeping the ball and putting them under pressure for the full 90 minutes.

"Our playing style is even more attacking than last year. This manager is tactically so strong. He is always pointing out where we can find the space to get one-on-one situations. He teaches us to make quick sprints and runs without the ball."
Bayern secured their fifth European title after overcoming Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the final at Wembley last May and Robben feels that his side are fully capable of becoming the first team to retain the Champions League, with United just one obstacle to overcome.
"No team can have a stroll to the final," the former Chelsea attacker continued.
"We are facing Manchester United, a big name in world football, but we are razor sharp," he said. Our football is phenomenal and we want to show that more than anywhere in the Champions League.

"Playing United is the sort of thing that really gets the best out of me.

"We won the German league last week, but we were not even bothered about that. Nobody in the dressing room was talking about it. We knew ages ago we would win the title."
Bayern travel to Manchester for their quarter-final first leg on Tuesday, with the return leg in Munich on April 9.

Mourinho: Chelsea have no hope of winning the title now

 
Jose Mourinho believes defeat to Crystal Palace leaves Chelsea with "no chance" of winning the Premier League title this season.

A John Terry own goal condemned the Blues to a 1-0 loss at Selhurst Park and, while they remain one point ahead of Liverpool and three ahead of Manchester City at the top of the table, both of their main rivals can now overtake them by winning their games in hand.

After the match a dejected Mourinho admitted Tony Pulis' men were good value for their victory and insisted the result kills Chelsea's hopes of winning their first title since 2010.

"I think now we lose any chance of finishing first," he told BBC Radio 5live. "Now we depend too much on other results.

"But today we lost three points, we lost against a team that was better than us in terms of spirit and mentality. We can only blame ourselves.

"I think maybe they deserved a victory. We had good chances. Their keeper made some good saves. We probably had the best chance of the first half.

"But their spirit, desire and commitment was stronger. Because of the spirit, they deserved the win."

No Outbreak Of Ebola Virus In Nigeria

The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, on Saturday dispelled rumour of the outbreak of Ebola virus in Nigeria, saying surveillance has been intensified to prevent occurrence.

A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the Minister, Mr Dan Nwomeh, said the attention of the ministry was drawn to a media report on the disease in Nasarawa State.

“The report is not true and should be disregarded. The said case is yet to be diagnosed and confirmed as Ebola virus.

“The general public should please note that the authority to confirm the outbreak of disease epidemics rests with the minister of health.

“The institution that is mandated to investigate the outbreak of diseases and advise the minister of health is the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control,” the statement said.

It said based on available information from the NCDC and the minister of health, there was no outbreak of Ebola virus in Nigeria.

It said the Ebola virus does not the only cause of hemorrhagic fever; all suspected cases of viral hemorrhagic fever are subject to laboratory analysis and confirmation.

The statement said Nigeria had the capacity to diagnose the disease if it appeared in the country and the NCDC was currently studying outbreak trends of the virus.

The NCDC had mobilised rapid response teams and developed a detailed response plan that included a comprehensive health education and health promotion to sensitise Nigerians, the statement added.

It said that surveillance had been stepped up to detect and treat the disease, just as treatment and isolation centres had been mobilised in case of outbreak.

“The Federal Ministry of Health is working closely with West African Health Organisation and the World Health Organisation and is ready to deploy experts to Guinea to strengthen its response capacity.

“Although the health institutions have been put on red alert for Ebola here in Nigeria, the WHO does not recommend any travel or trade restrictions to Guinea in respect of this outbreak,” said the statement.

The health ministry advised the general public to take precautionary measures to avert the outbreak.

The statement advised persons coming from Ebola disease-affected countries, who might have symptoms of high fever, headache, severe abdominal pain, diarrhoea and bleeding, to report to health authorities on arrival.
